Dress Code
2009 - 2010 DRESS CODE
The Dress Code for 2009-2010 has a couple of changes. Please make sure to look over the dress code
before purchasing school apparel.
The VCS High School Dress for Success Plan has been established to teach hygiene, instill discipline, and prevent
disruption and to avoid safety hazards. Final determination of acceptable dress and grooming rests with the
building administration.
The Five Components of the Dress for Success Plan are:
- Students (males or females) may not wear pants or shorts that slack or sag.
- Students must wear pants and shorts at the waistline.
- Students (males or females) may not wear hats or do-rags in the building
- Students must keep hats, do-rags, or other hand coverings in their locker or book bag.
- Students may not wear pants, shorts, skirts, etc., that are too short (Standard Arm Test Applies...bottom of pants, shorts, skirts must reach finger tips when arms are straight and resting at student's side)
- Female students may not wear shirts that are abnormally tight and reveal the navel or "spaghetti strap" that over exposes the body.
- Male students, when wearing sleeveless Jersey shirts (i.e. Basketball, Football, etc.), must wear a sleeved shirt underneath.
The Vance County Schools Student Dress Code is still strictly enforced, and it is not weakened by the High School Dress
for Success Plan. In an effort to clarify certain apparel and accessories in the High Schools, the Dress for Success Plan
was developed in an effort to promote student success through appearance.
